Anti-Bullying Week

Each year the Anti-Bullying Alliance coordinates Anti-Bullying Week in schools across the UK. BulliesOut is a Core Member of the Anti Bullying Alliance and recognises and celebrates anti-bullying week each year.

In 2021, we partnered with the Anti Bullying Alliance, and launched the first School Staff Award Wales – an award for school staff who go beyond the call of duty to support children and young people with issues such as bullying, family life, relationships and health. The unique and wonderful thing about this award is that nominations are made by children and young people and the winners are chosen by a panel of young people.

We’re thrilled to deliver the School Staff Award in Wales with our friends at The Anti Bullying Alliance. All nominees receive a certificate to surprise the school staff, and working with young people, two winners are selected, one for primary and one for secondary.

We are delighted that St David’s Hotel & Spa  support the School Staff Award Wales and provide prizes for the Primary and Secondary School award winners. Winners will receive an Overnight Stay with a Full Welsh Breakfast and use of the Spa at the 5* St David’s Hotel and Spa in the picturesque Cardiff Bay. They also receive a hamper of treats donated by local businesses.

The Winners Are …

Mr Elliott Heade, St Peter’s RC Primary School, Cardiff

“Mr Heade always speaks calmly if anyone is nasty to someone or about somebody. He tells people to take a minute and then talks to them about how what they did has upset or hurt somebody. The person who isn’t kind will then apologise or sometimes write a card to apologise. He will always talk to the class about what is good and bad behaviour and to be like Jesus. Mr Heade will always gather us all on the carpet when someone has done something wrong to explain why that is horrible behaviour that none of us should do”. (Nominated by a YR 3 pupil)

Mr Jason Evans, Blackwood Comprehensive School

” We would like to nominate Mr. Evans as he is always there to help and support us. He makes us laugh when we’re sad, he picks us up when we’re feeling down. We always feel that we can talk to him about anything, at any time. He knows our individual needs and will help each of us, with things that suit us. We like him, we trust him, and we respect him. Being in school without him would be weirder.  We feel safer with him around. He’s a friendly face any time of the day. We’re really thankful for him.”  (Nominated by 4 x Year 4 pupils)

Congratulations to Mr Heade and Mr Evans from everyone at BulliesOut, The Anti Bullying Alliance and St David’s Hotel & Spa
