How are you feeling about the start of another year? It affects all of us in different ways, doesn’t it? Some relish the thought of a new year and the thought of a fresh start, whilst others dread the pressure it brings. What matters most is that we focus on ‘how’ we feel about it and address that and don’t feel the pressure to feel the same as others do.
The last couple of years has understandably taken its toll on us all and has impacted us all in very different ways. What is has done however, is drive forward an increased awareness in the importance of looking after our own mental health and for many of us we have given more time to it then we once would have which means we are all a little more aware of what we need to do to help ourselves feel better.
One of the main ways we can help ourselves is by taking time out to analyse – when we feel low, what is driving that feeling? Is it fear? Is it frustration? Is it comparison? If we can take time to work on that then that time for self-reflection can help us put coping strategies in place to help us to change those feelings.
You could try using our Gratitude Journal to make a note of how you are feeling. Download it or buy a hard copy here. Spending time writing down how you feel can help to identify triggers that cause you to feel low.
It’s important to take some time for you in 2022. Make it ‘the year of ‘self-care’. For the last couple of years, we have all put so much time and effort into the feelings of those around us that our own energy levels have become depleted. And we cannot pour from an empty cup. So, try where possible to forge some time for yourself as well as for those around you.
You matter. Invest in yourself this year.
Happy New Year from the BulliesOut Team.
