Teachers

30th Sep 2021

We all remember a good Teacher, don’t we? That one who went the extra mile for us, who put themselves out for us. The one who cared. The one who gave us their lunch because we forgot ours. The one who was kind to us when we missed our Mum or fell over and cried for our Parents. Right now, as you are reading this you have a Teacher in mind. You can probably still picture them. Because they mattered. But did we ever tell them they mattered?

This year we can offer your children the chance to say, ‘Thank You’ and show that teacher just how valued and appreciated they are.

Our School Staff Award Wales, in partnership with the Anti – Bullying Alliance, offers the opportunity to nominate a member of School Staff that you feel has gone above and beyond the call of duty to prevent and respond to bullying and to raise awareness of bullying in school.

Henry Brook Adams said, ‘Teachers affect eternity; no one can tell where their influence stops’ They really do make a difference, but as with so many things the chances are that we speak to them more when there is an issue rather than when there isn’t. We speak to them to resolve an issue, or a conflict, but how often do we thank them for going above and beyond in order to resolve it? Often, we forget that a teacher is a person behind the name and role profile and to say thank you can go ever such a long way.

How can we show a teacher we value them?

  1. Tell them. A quick email can make all the difference at the end of a long week.
  2. If your child says something nice about them – feed that back to them. Think how much we love to receive feedback that our children appreciated something we did. Let’s make sure we give teachers that same appreciation.
  3. Nominate them for a School Staff Award. Details can be found here.

Tell us who your favourite teacher was and why! We would love to hear your stories!
