The BulliesOut Excellence in Anti-Bullying Award is for all workplaces, schools, organisations, charities, and community groups throughout the UK to show their commitment towards making positive changes to improve anti-bullying and wellbeing within their environment.
The Assessment
Assessment Process
At BulliesOut, we believe in recognising genuine commitment to creating safe, respectful, and inclusive environments. As part of the Excellence in Anti-Bullying Award, our assessment process takes a thorough and supportive approach.
Each submission is carefully reviewed by one of our Assessors, who evaluate evidence of effective anti-bullying strategies, positive culture, and measurable impact. Assessments consider policies, initiatives, and the voices of staff, students, or community members involved.
We aim to highlight and celebrate organisations that go beyond compliance – those who truly embed kindness, respect, and empathy into their daily practice.
When you are assessed for our Excellence in Anti-Bullying Award, we look for:
- Policy and Procedures: Existence, accessibility and visibility of a clear, up-to-date anti-bullying policy.
- Prevention and Education: Evidence of ongoing programmes or training for young people and staff, on anti-bullying, respect and inclusion promoting kindness, empathy and positive relationships.
- Culture and Environment: Demonstration of a positive and inclusive culture which actively promotes equality, diversity and respect.
- Reporting and Support Systems: Clear and confidential reporting systems for those impacted by bullying behaviour and fair, restorative approached for those displaying the behaviour. Data or evidence showing how incidents are tracked and addressed.
- Impact and Outcomes: Demonstrated reduction in incidents of bullying behaviour or improvement in culture. Case studies, examples of successful interventions or testimonials from young people and staff.
- Engagement and Partnership: Involvement of the wider community, parents, or external partners. Collaboration with anti-bullying and wellbeing organisations (e.g. BulliesOut) for training or support.
- Innovation and Sustainability: Creative, effective approaches to preventing and responding to bullying behaviour. Long-term commitment and strategies for maintaining progress.
Our Excellence in Anti-Bullying Award is intended to represent best practice in anti-bullying for education settings and organisations. It is not intended to replicate any other inspection, but rather support you in attaining ‘outstanding’ status in this area of an inspection.
